Product Description

Back Brace for Child Posture Correction:

Good posture has the potential to provide your child with numerous health benefits. For example, higher energy levels, confidence, prevention or relief of neck and back tension, and prevention of future or already existing chronic back pain. This is especially important in today’s world with all the technology that exists and our children's use of it at a young age. Learn about a condition called “text neck” that is created by bad posture here. This posture corrector was designed to perfectly fit your child’s body. The brace is completely adjustable so it will comfortably fit your kids back and shoulders. The backpack design makes the brace fun and easy to wear. The unique design also makes application a breeze, which can sometimes be tough with younger children and toddlers. The adjustable straps allow you to find your child's perfect individual fit, and adjust it as they grow.  Once you’ve found the perfect fit to correct your son or daughter’s poor posture, feel free to trim off any excess material, as no portion of the brace will ever fray (including the back piece, straps, sleeves, shoulder padding, etc). Here at BraceAbility, we call the hook pieces of the brace “Alligator” clips, these too are removable, so you can trim the ends of the straps and reattach them no matter what the length. Perhaps the best part of this brace is that it's made to be durable, which we all know is very important when buying things for our kids! The back straightener for youth comes pre assembled, just adjust to your son or daughter's perfect fit and trim where needed. The pediatric back brace is universal, so one size fits most kids. The brace is made of latex free nylon and polyester material.

If you’re looking for something your child can wear both over and under their clothing, this is the perfect back brace for you. The design was made sleek enough that it can hide underneath most clothing comfortably. The perfect amount of padding exists between and around the armpit area of the brace, providing your kid with a comfortable (not complained about) fit! However, because this brace is made to correct your child's bad posture, they should expect to feel some level of dissimilarity. Another great part of this brace for child posture immobilization is the rectangle D-rings located on the back of the brace preventing any type of twisting, which is important in the active lives of children! You’ll never have to worry about readjusting a twisted strap throughout the duration of the day.

If you are interested in having the whole family work towards better posture you may want to check out the adult posture braces we offer as well. We have posture correctors for adults in sizes small and large, as well as a universal plus size posture brace seen here. Here at Braceability we have a few fun activities your family could do together in order to encourage improved posture, like our 21 day posture challenge.

My Child/Toddler has Broken or Fractured His/Her Collarbone, will this Back Brace Treat it?

When you’re treating your kids collarbone injury, you want a brace that stabilizes their collarbone. Because of this, we’ve designed a brace that wraps around their upper back in a figure 8 configuration. The figure 8 design immobilizes their clavicle, while keep their shoulders back in a manner similar to the pediatric posture corrector. Check out the clavicle brace for kids here. To learn more on the difference between a posture brace and clavicle brace read the BraceAbility blog here.

Why Should I Buy my Kid a Posture Corrective Brace?

The health benefits of proper posture are endless. Beginning with confidence, good posture can make your child look and feel healthier. By having your child practicing correct posture in their daily life at a young age, you can prevent them a lifetime of back pain. Keeping an upright posture will allow your child's airways to open up, helping them breathe properly. As their airways begin to open up, more oxygen will travel to their head. This will allow for the blood to carry a sufficient amount of oxygen to their entire body, creating a healthier child. Low levels of oxygen can create countless health issues for a person including- migraines, strong pains throughout the body, low energy levels, and even heart problems. In addition, holding oneself upright strengthens their core. This means that your child will become even stronger just by practice better posture! For more information on bad posture read here.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long does my child need to wear their pediatric posture brace?

We know it’s difficult to get kids to do anything for an extended amount of time. This is why we recommend having your son or daughter ease into the duration of wear. As they grow more comfortable with the back brace, increase the duration of wear time. Start out in thirty minute increments and gradually increase up to three hours, depending on their comfort level. We highly recommend starting by having your child wear the brace when they are doing more leisure activities, like watching t.v or playing video games.

How do I know which size to get?

Using a fabric or flexible tape measure, find the circumference around your child’s chest at the bottom of their sternum. This brace fits a chest circumferences up to 25”. If your child’s circumference is larger than this check out our adult posture brace.

How do I adjust the brace to make it smaller or bigger?

To adjust the straps, undo the fastener and tighten or loosen them for your kids ideal comfort. If the straps are still too long, trim the ends (after removing the alligator clips) and then re-attach the clips.

How do I put on the brace?

Unfold the brace to figure out which is the left and right strap. Feed the right end of the strap through the plastic triangle buckle, attaching the fastener. Do the same for the left side of the strap. Slip the straps over your child's shoulder like a backpack, ensure the triangle buckle points down on their back. To adjust to their comfort level, use the fastener to pull the straps tighter or until the desired level of posture support is reached. If they feel any discomfort, loosen or remove the brace.

Can I wash the brace?

Yes, unstrap the fastener pieces, then hand wash the straps in warm water with mild soap. Brace should be air-dried, do not use high temperatures to wash or dry.

Can you sleep in the brace?

For the greatest impact on your child's posture, we recommend having them wear it during the day. During the day wear will allow them to correct their posture when they are finding discomfort from natural slouching. However, if you want them to wear it at night it will not hurt them in anyway, but you will find more results from daytime use..

Great for old lady

I am an 84 lb little old lady and all the posture correctors that I have used are too large after sweater weather is over. This is the perfect size for me and it is comfortable and is really helping me have better posture. Wear it all day!
