Every day, your wrists endure a high level of stress, especially if you work on a computer or partake in other repetitive use activities, such as biking, long-distance driving, weightlifting, gymnastics, etc. These repetitive, wrist flattening motions can take a toll on the nerves, tendons, ligaments, and bones that make up your wrists, making you susceptible to many types of injuries.
One of the most common wrist injuries is carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in your wrist where your median nerve and several tendons run from your forearm to your hand. Symptoms, like pain, tingling, and numbness, arise when pressure is placed on your median nerve. This pressure occurs when your tunnel is made smaller due to your wrists not being in their proper anatomical position, which is hands cupped and wrists straight.
Like your feet, there are several arches in your wrist that give your hand its strength and protection. Chronic flattening out of these arches creates repetitive microtrauma to your hand and wrist. The Tunnel Tamer forces your hand to stay in its anatomical position, protecting your carpal bones and allowing your hand to maintain its natural arch formation.
This also makes the tunnel tamer great for managing other conditions and causes of hand and wrist pain, including:
TFCC (Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Injuries)
Ulnar-sided wrist pain
Pain stemming from weight bearing, gripping, wrist rotation, and extension
The non-slip, moisture-wicking, and lightweight foam material is specially engineered out of medical grade nylon and spandex fabrics. Thanks to its foam-like interior, the wrist strap is smooth and soft against your skin. It’s also hypoallergenic, neoprene, and latex-free, making it perfect for allergy suffers.
Many people use a computer at work and spend a lot of time on digital devices in their free time. So, it’s no surprise carpal tunnel and other wrist injuries have become so common in our society. The Tunnel Tamer helps keep the integrity of your wrists while you type or perform other activities that cause your wrists to flatten.
In addition to the wrist strap provided, you can also attach the finger loops to your personal fitness tracker (Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin Vivosmart, etc.) or favorite wristwatch, if desired.
Conceived and developed by a certified chiropractic sports physician, the Tunnel Tamer is unlike any other wrist support for carpal pain on the market. With just three simple pieces, the Tunnel Tammer is easy to apply, remove, and adjust for the proper fit. Once applied, this brace can be worn all-day as it allows full range of wrist motion, without stressing your sore wrist joint. You can adjust the tension throughout the day by moving the Velcro bases closer together for less tension and further apart for more tension.
What conditions / injuries does the Tunnel Tamer treat? It helps alleviate pain associated with carpal tunnel, TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage complex injuries), arthritis, tendonitis of the wrist, ulnar-sided wrist pain, as well as pain stemming from weight bearing, gripping, wrist rotation, and extension.
How does it work? By maintaining your hand’s natural anatomical structure, the Tunnel Tamer helps open up your carpal tunnel, reducing pressure on your median nerve and decreasing pain in your wrist joint.
When should I wear it? Use during or following repetitive, wrist flattening activities such as typing on a keyboard, driving, texting, cycling, weightlifting, bowling, gymnastics, knitting, etc.
How long should I wear it? Can be worn safely all day. If you experience pain or discomfort during extended wear, adjust the tension or remove the finger loops and allow time for your hand to rest before reapplying.
What is the right amount of tension? Customize the tension by moving the Velcro bases closer together for less tension and further apart for more tension. Adjust the tension until your wrist is straight and your hand is in a cupped position, like you are holding a bowl of soup.
What is it made of? The wrist wrap is made out of a hypoallergenic, neoprene, and latex-free, 1/8” thick foam material - composed of 80% nylon and 20% spandex. Both finger loops are constructed out of an elastic material - composed of 72% polyester and 28% rubber.
Who can wear this brace? This hand support is great for men and women of all sizes, ages, and activity levels. Some children and teenagers may also benefit from this wrist guard.
How do I put it on? Wrap the wrist strap on your desired wrist. Then, put one finger loop around the base of your pinky, pull the Velcro base diagonally across your hand, and attach it to the wrist wrap. Place the second finger loop around the base of your thumb and repeat attachment process, forming an X over your palm.
Washing instructions: Hand wash in warm water with mild soap. Then, lay flat to air dry completely before reapplying
