The Active Innovations Trigger Finger Splint is one of the first finger splints for non-invasive solution and treatment of painful trigger finger and trigger thumb. Developed by an orthopedic surgeon, this finger brace is the first of its kind in the market specifically designed to treat and cure trigger finger while providing maximum comfort and mobility. If you're hesitant to buy a finger splint, don't take our word for it, read what other customers have said about this product in the Product Reviews section of this page.

What Is Trigger Finger and How Finger Splints Can Help

Trigger finger is a common problem that can cause a locking sensation and pain in one or more fingers.  This disorder is usually caused by repeatedly grasping or gripping a certain object (steering wheel while driving, a racket while playing tennis or badminton, or even a cellphone, for instance), which eventually breaks down the fat pad at the base of the finger.  When this fat pad starts to break down, the tendon underneath—which is responsible for helping the finger bend—begins to swell. It is precisely this swelling that causes the locking sensation and pain that you feel whenever you try to move your finger.

Finger support splints like the Active Innovations Trigger Finger Splint helps immobilize the affected area, preventing more damage and helping to speed up recovery.

Some of the Features of the Active Innovations Trigger Finger Brace:

  • This finger splint removes pressure from affected area, allowing daily activities to resume comfortably
  • Restores the fat pad in your finger that naturally protects the area
  • Helps identify the grip or repetitive action that is causing the trigger finger so that an alternative method may be used to prevent additional flare-ups
  • One of the first finger braces specifically developed by an orthopedic surgeon
  • First of its kind on the market
  • First non-invasive finger brace for relieving symptoms of painful trigger finger
  • May be worn on any finger with complete freedom of movement
  • Made of blended neoprene rubber and nylon fabric
  • Correct size of finger support to be determined by measuring circumference between the base of the finger and PIP joint, similar to determining ring size

I received the splint and thought it would be more rigid. It is a soft thick material that encircles your finger. It gives protection to the finger, so that when you bump the hurting finger, it doesn't hurt so bad, but it slips, and you have to constantly adjust it. I would not recommend this product, and would not purchase it again. (Posted on 4/9/14)

When I think of a brace, I think the item would have some sort of stiffener so that I could not bend the affected joint. This brace is soft and pliable and serves to provide a cushion at the base of the joint. Measure carefully because the item is sized to fit and is not adjustable. I wore it for over a month with no relief or benefit. I'm disappointed it did not work for me. (Posted on 12/18/13)

I received the product rather quickly. However when I opened the package and tried it on I realized it was not what thouht it was. The description says finer splint, but it is just a limp synthetic material that in no way will support my "Trigger Finger". (Posted on 10/22/13)

  4. It really works! Review by keyboard mama

I've had weakness progressing into burning pain in my right pointer finger for about a year. Thought originally it was arthritis but noticed it really flared up after using a computer mouse all day. As an accountant I can't stop using a mouse. I thought I would give this a try before seeking medical treatment. Within days I was pain free. I wore it probably 22 hours a day for the first 2 weeks, then a little less, but all day at work and for driving. 2 months later and strength is improving and virtually no pain. I still wear it at work but not over night anymore and skip a day now and then. Highly recommend! (Posted on 6/17/13)

Started having trigger finger in my middle finger, especially at night. I now wear it every night and don't start feeling discomfort until late the next day. Discomfort, not pain. I was taking Arimadex for breast cancer and that is how the problem started. (Posted on 6/15/13)

I have trigger thumb and hoped this would help but it did little to provide much support or relieve the pain. Dissapointed, had hoped it would work. Maybe it works better for fingers. (Posted on 2/3/13)

  7. It's just a very soft "pad" not a "splint" at all Review by Denny

Haven't actually used it yet but I will now that I have it. I will use it diligently. If it works in any way at all I will update my review. This "splint" is not a splint at all. The definition of a splint is "A rigid device used to prevent motion of a joint or of the ends of a fractured bone". This product however is a soft thin neoprene pad that you slip your finger into with a small extended tab on the palm side of the finger. It probably a dime's worth of product and simply sewn so is extremely over priced for what it is. It apparently works by having a small pad where your metacarpophalangeal joint is so when you grasp something you have a pad there. This is an unbelievable $20 plus a hefty shipping price of about $9.00. I feel like I have been duped and then some! (Posted on 1/11/13)

  8. Overnight relief from trigger finger! Review by Bill J. - Maine

I received my last order for 1 Finger Brace early last month. I placed this on my finger which is affected by a damaged tendon. On that day we were driving a 4 hour trip to a Trade Show. I wore the Brace all day and throughout the night. When I got up the next day there was not the usual pain in my hand. In the past 3 weeks I have worn the brace all day and night and am quite happy with the results. My other hand is now showing a problem with my tendons. I would like to get another Brace for my left hand before it gets worse rather than wait until it gets as bad as my right hand.

I was very skeptical when I saw this brace. How could such a small and simple product relieve pain and help me heal? After several cortisone shots and two doctors telling me I needed surgery on my trigger finger, I decided to spend $20 and give this brace a chance. I am very glad that I did. In a matter of days I could tell it was making a difference. My pain was reduced and the best part is that this brace allowed full function of my finger! After wearing the brace for a little over a month, the pain is gone and my doctor no longer thinks I need surgery or shots. I will recommend this brace to anyone suffereing from trigger finger. I thought it looked too small and too simple to really work, but I was desperate. And how could I really go wrong at this price? Anyway, I got it yesterday afternoon, put it on and almost instantly felt that the tendon was no longer under stress. I had been in pain all the way up to my elbow and it just seemed to melt away. I wore it overnight and all day today. I'm just really surprised at how my finger feels now. And with it on I have not "locked-up". I have hopes that this will lead to eventual healing and complete functionality. Thanks, sure beats surgery. (Posted on 9/29/11)

Determine the correct size by measuring the circumference between the base of the finger and the PIP joint, much like you would size a ring. This product has a very tight fit when sized properly. If you aren't sure which size to purchase due to your measurement falling into two size categories, it is recommended that you purchase the larger size. Example: Your finger measures 2 ½". In this case, it is recommended you purchase a size medium, rather than a size small.
