      What is a C-Section Binder?

A C-section, also referred to cesarean section, is delivering a baby surgically. This is performed by making an incision in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. Some C-sections are planned, others are done in response to an unexpected problem. After a C-section, you might feel some pain and discomfort. A C-section binder will compress the belly and help to minimize the pain, making the recovery process much easier on a new mother. BraceAbility has many surgical binders to help women recover from c-sections, hysterectomies, and other abdominal surgeries. Available in extra large and plus sizes which hip circumferences up to 96”, every female is sure to find a post-op stomach binder that fits their body type.

      Why a Woman May Need a C-Section

There are various reasons why a medical professional may choose to perform a C-Section procedure, some for critical reasons, and others to prevent complications after labor. With this procedure, it would be very beneficial to use a C-Section binder after to accelerate the healing process and protect the incision in the abdomen area. The following conditions are situations in which a cesarean delivery would be necessary:

      • Placenta Previa: This condition occurs when the placenta lies low in the uterus, partially or completely covering the cervix. A C-Section is necessary for women who suffer from Placenta Previa.
      • Placenta Abruption: Often occurring in the third trimester, Placenta Abruption causes the placenta to separate from the uterine lining. The mother will experience bleeding and pain, potentially interfering with oxygen flow to the infant. In this case, an emergency C-section would be performed.
      • Breech Position: When a baby is in a breech position, a C-Section is often times the only delivery option. Breech position is when the infant does not move it’s head closer to the birth canal prior to delivery, causing the buttocks or feet to be delivered first.
      • Cord Prolapse: A cord prolapse occurs when the umbilical cord slips through the cervix and protrudes from the vagina before the infant is delivered. This puts pressure on the umbilical cord, causing a decrease in blood flow to the baby.
      • Fetal Distress: There are many factors that could cause fetal distress, but the most common is lack of oxygen to the infant. An emergency C-Section will be performed if your medical professional measures low oxygen being received by your baby.
      • Preeclampsia: Preeclampsia is a condition in which the mother develops high blood pressure during her pregnancy. This condition can prevent the placenta from getting enough blood, decreasing oxygen flow to the baby. Immediate C-Section is recommended in the case of preeclampsia.

Why Do I Need to Use a Belly Band After my C-Section?

      1. C-Section binders will help in keeping excess and loose skin together through compression, potentially making your stomach shrink in appearance. This is important not only for psychological effects but also to help you get back into your old clothes faster. More importantly, feeling comfortable in them. We offer a variety of belly bands for after a c-section procedure and pregnancy, providing comfort and minimizing pain.
      2. Many stomach bands are bulky and can be seen through clothes, even if they are loose. Finding a C-section belly belt that is visually slimming is important for a natural look underneath clothing. View our unnoticeable C-section belly binder here.
      3. The pain felt after having a C-Section can be immense. Belly bands are specifically designed to help decrease pain and increase comfort levels. We have a wide range of belly bands for after c-section and pregnancies, providing maximum comfort and easing pain post-surgery.
      4. Normally doctors recommend holding a pillow over your incision site when coughing or in the car. With C-section belly bands, you don’t have to worry about this. Wear a belly wrap instead of toting a pillow around. Our post-surgery binder belt provides excellent protection of incision sites through compression, while also providing comfort and decreasing pain of these incisions.
