There is no shortage of injuries and conditions that can compromise the function of the hands. Therefore, we offer a wide array of thumb and finger splints that can help.

Trigger Finger Braces

The Active Innovations trigger finger support is one of our top selling thumb/finger splints. This trigger thumb brace features a deceivingly simple design, but the padded finger support that was designed by an orthopedic surgeon is quite effective for treating the locking sensation and pain that is associated with trigger finger.

The Active Innovations finger splint is the simplest of the trigger thumb splints we offer, but note that we do carry many finger braces that can help with this condition.

One alternative is the Bort StellaFix P basal thumb joint pain treatment splint. This thumb splint wraps around the wrist and supports the thumb through its tip. The thumb splint for trigger thumb is well ventilated and it can be customized to one’s hand using a hairdryer and scissors. It can also help with de Quervain’s tendonitis or various forms of arthritis of the thumb.

Finger Splints for Arthritis

It seems appropriate to talk about arthritis of the hands next, as many injuries to the hand can increase one’s risk of developing arthritis, which can make daily living activities difficult. Fractures and dislocations are among the most common injuries that lead to arthritis. Disease and simply the wear and tear of aging can also erode the cartilage of one’s hand joints.

The ulnar drift/deviation hand splint can slow the progression of joint deformity that often occurs due to arthritis. These arthritis finger splints encourage neutral alignment of one’s knuckles at the base of one’s thumb without compromising the mobility of one’s fingers.

Another top-selling thumb brace is the Bort SellaDur thumb arthritis treatment splint. This thermoplastic arthritis thumb splint immobilizes one’s thumb saddle joint so it can rest and inflammation can subside. The plastic thumb splint is quite resilient. It is perforated and comes with an undersock for user comfort. It can also function as a skier’s thumb splint.

For a softer, more flexible thumb arthritis brace, one might consider Bort’s soft basal thumb arthritis brace. This carpometacarpal (CMC) thumb splint for arthritis at the base of one’s thumb is soft and breathable so one can wear the CMC thumb brace throughout the day.

The thumb CMC splint supports the thumb, giving inflammation a chance to subside. The sizing of the thumb brace for arthritis is also highly adjustable at both the wrist and the thumb. This thumb stabilizer can also help after one has suffered a break to the thumb or an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) lesion (AKA, skiers’ thumb).

Skier’s Thumb Splint

Injury to the UCL goes by a number of names describing activities associated with the injury, including skier’s thumb and gamekeeper’s thumb.

This skier's thumb brace can help with either injury. It supports and immobilizes the thumb, protecting it against additional injury and allowing healing to occur. The thumb spica leaves one’s fingers and much of the hand free. The thumb support brace consists of a rigid polyethylene material that is quite thin and lightweight as well as a two stockinette liners.

De Quervain’s Tendonitis Treatment

Tendonitis is another possible soft tissue injury to the wrist or the thumb that is typically caused by overuse of the affected tendon. Treatment usually involves resting said tendon, which is where a wrist immobilizer like this thumb and wrist tendonitis splint can help.

This thumb tendonitis splint immobilizes and supports both the joint at the base of the thumb and the saddle joint between the index finger and the thumb. The splint for thumb support leaves one’s fingers free and it has contouring that makes it easier to move one’s hand while wearing it. The thumb brace for tendonitis can also help with sprains of the wrist/thumb and work as an arthritis thumb brace.

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a form of tendonitis that causes pain and swelling at the base of one’s thumb. We offer a number of thumb braces for de Quervain tenosynovitis treatment.

One example is Bort’s de Quervain's tenosynovitis brace. Rest is an important element of de Quervain syndrome treatment, and this moldable thumb spica splint makes doing so easy. Padded straps and extensive perforation make this a cool and comfortable thumb brace.

This thumb joint spica wrist splint from BraceAbility is a more affordable option that offers more extensive wrist support and a less streamlined design than the aforementioned Bort brace. But both products are quite effective when it comes to de Quervain treatment.

The de Quervain brace leaves the fingers free and it has contouring the palmar crease, making the brace quite accommodating of finger movement. The thumb CMC restriction splint features a removable aluminum stay for added support. It is composed of durable, breathable material.

Carpal Tunnel Brace

Some of our hand and wrist braces can also help with carpal tunnel syndrome, another source of hand and wrist pain stemming from pressure on a nerve. Arthritis, a bone fracture, pregnancy-related water retention or repetitive motions of the hand/wrist can all put pressure on the median nerve, resulting in pain, numbness, weakness or tingling in the hand or fingers that are hallmarks of CTS.

Resting the wrist and hand by wearing a carpal tunnel splint at night and possibly during the day is important to truly ensuring one is resting these tissues so healing can occur. Bort’s soft hand splint with finger support is one great option for doing so, as it immobilizes the fingers and limits wrist movement. The finger support prevents them from curling up at night.

Finger and Thumb Stabilizer Braces for Sprains and Fractures

Immobilization and stabilization are needed following a sprain or fracture to one’s finger or thumb to protect against further injury and ensure that healing occurs.

This soft thumb immobilizer for sprains and strains is a no-fuss, low-cost option for stabilizing and supporting the thumb in the aftermath of sprains, strains and other injuries to the thumb. The circumferential compression the sprained thumb splint applies also encourages healing.

If one has the bad fortune of breaking one’s thumb, he or she might consider BraceAbility’s universal broken thumb spica splint. The dual strap brace for the thumb provides maximum support, plus it helps it contour to one’s hand. The left or right thumb spica splint comes with dorsal and palmar stays for added support. The thumb sprain splint can also help with other conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis or de Quervain tendonitis treatment.

If one sprains or breaks the finger, the Bort DigiSoft hand splint and finger immobilizer can help. The index finger brace can immobilize up to two fingers. And it features three removable straps so one can position them along the finger splint for basketball and other sports as comfortable for one’s injury. The finger support brace can also be molded to fit each patient. This is also a great mallet finger brace.

Pediatric sizes of the DigiSoft finger splint are also available.

The boxer fracture splint immobilizer for the fourth and fifth metacarpal is a great solution for fractures, sprains, etc. to this tough-to-immobilize area of the hand. The ring and pinky finger brace is a lightweight finger brace/support designed by an orthopedic surgeon who was sick of seeing splints for this area of the body that were either falling apart or failing to immobilize the fourth and fifth metacarpal joints.

As you can see, we offer a wide array of thumb and braces for arthritis, skier’s thumb, broken or sprained digits and much more. If you need additional help selecting a finger or thumb orthosis, feel free to contact us.
