Soft Padded Bunion Sleeping Brace
Following hallux valgus surgery to repair an irritating to debilitating bunion on the foot, one will need to take care to protect the foot and to hold the toe in proper alignment with the foot. This bunion wrap is helpful to both these ends during the day and at night. See more bunion splints.
The soft splint for bunions wraps around the big toe and the foot, holding the two in proper alignment. The fit of the toe and foot wrap can easily be adjusted thanks to contact closures. There is also a removable Velcro strap that can be used to further secure the foot closure if one desires. This additional Velcro strap helps to separate and pull the first metatarsal (big toe) away from the second, keeping them from rubbing together. This is what is needed for treating conditions such as bunions (hallux valgus), turf toe, and other toe deformities.
This brace for turf toe is highly adjustable. The entire brace is made of soft, Velcro compatible material that can easily be adjusted to fit to any foot. The bunion brace is also quite comfortable to wear, unlike an uncomfortable hard bunion splint, thanks to its thin, lightweight material. The toe splint is latex-free, making it non-irritating to the skin.
The splint for bunions can be washed and it comes in a discreet, black color. The simple but efficient design of this splint for bunions means it has a low-profile fit as well. If room permits, you may be able to wear this bunion wrap inside of your shoe to help prevent rubbing from occurring.
The relatively open design of the wrap for bunions means it will fit most feet. It is available in three sizes fitting foot circumferences 9 inches to 12 inches.
Post-Surgical Bunion Pain Wrap for Hallux Valgus Protection
Discomfort associated with bunions can sometimes be managed without surgery by avoiding narrow or high-heeled shoes, wearing bunion splints or boots or using shoe inserts. Taking pain killers and applying ice can help with any pain or inflammation. But if these methods fail, surgery may be necessary to achieve relief from foot pain.
The recovery period following bunion surgery varies widely depending upon how much work a surgeon does on one's foot and the individual. Bunion surgery recovery typically ranges anywhere from six weeks to six months.
During this recovery period, one must often wear a bunion splint and/or a special boot or shoe to hold the bones and ligaments in place so that they have a chance to heal. In some cases, a period of limited or no weight bearing may be necessary, again depending upon the type of procedure one undergoes.
